Playing cornerback involves more than matching a receiver’s speed. It means recognizing a route, reacting to the ball and being ready to tackle when the play comes your way. Jacob Parrish brought that variety to Tampa Bay’s secondary as a rookie, working in the slot and outside. The club’s review of his first season highlighted quick feet, changes of direction and an ability to disrupt receivers. No. 25 gave the Krewe a young defender with several ways to contribute. The Wildcats’ draft-day account.

Tampa Bay makes the call April 25, 2025.

The Buccaneers selected Parrish in the third round, 84th overall. His 4.35-second 40-yard dash at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine supplied a clear measure of his speed. Tampa Bay also valued his quickness, toughness and ability to support the run, qualities that mattered alongside the stopwatch. The club’s selection announcement.

FIRST NFL INTERCEPTION

A pick against Josh Allen • A three-yard return
Final score: Buffalo 44 • Tampa Bay 32.

On November 16, 2025, at Buffalo, Parrish collected his first NFL interception on the Bills’ opening possession. With Josh Allen under pressure near his own goal line, Parrish gathered the throw at Buffalo’s 10-yard line and returned it to the seven. Tampa Bay turned the short field into a 23-yard Chase McLaughlin field goal and a 3–0 lead. The Buccaneers’ game account.

The final result was a 44–32 Buffalo victory, so this milestone belongs within a difficult team afternoon. Parrish also recorded three defensive tackles, including two for loss. His first interception and those stops show the different assignments a corner can face in one game: finish a turnover, then keep coming forward against the next play. The original NFL gamebook.

Parrish started seven of the first eight team games. He was inactive against Cleveland in Week 2 because of a back injury; that row’s dashes mark a nonappearance. The other seven rows are actual starts. The official Week 2 inactive report.

The actual appearances total 30 solo tackles plus six assists = 36 defensive tackles, with no special-teams tackle credit. He added three TFL, 13 PD and two interceptions. The interceptions came against Green Bay and Atlanta; the Atlanta return gained zero yards, which remains a valid interception.

The gamebooks’ unofficial playtime reports total 381 defensive snaps and 24 special-teams snaps. No sack, QB hit, forced fumble or opponent fumble recovery is credited in this current-season span.

Results are from Tampa Bay’s perspective; @ = away; OT = overtime. CIN = Cincinnati; CLE = Cleveland; MIN = Minnesota; GB = Green Bay; DAL = Dallas; PIT = Pittsburgh; CAR = Carolina; ATL = Atlanta.

The Kansas State record

Parrish played three Kansas State seasons, 2022–2024, appearing in 38 games with 24 starts. His actual Big 12 Championship and bowl appearances are already included in the annual and career totals. Kansas State’s career summary at the time of his draft selection.

G = games played; GS = starts; Solo + Ast = TKL. TFL includes sacks; YDS = credited yards lost. The original final records total 88 solo tackles plus 20 assists = 108 tackles, with 5.0 TFL for 12 yards and 0.5 sack for one yard. College QB hurries are a separate category from NFL QB hits.

Original annual records: 2022 final defense, PDF p. 7 · 2023 final defense, PDF p. 7 · 2024 final defense, PDF p. 7. The participation chart on PDF p. 20 of each report verifies games and starts. The college tables do not provide an NFL-style DEF/ST tackle split.

PBU = pass breakups, excluding interceptions; PD = PBU + INT. Parrish’s 19 breakups and five interceptions therefore total 24 passes defended. His interceptions produced 53 return yards, with a long of 26. FF = forced fumbles; FR = recoveries; BLK = blocked kicks. His lone fumble recovery gained no yardage, and no defensive touchdown is recorded.

The 2023 return total reconciles across the original books: zero yards against UCF, 37 at Texas and 16 in the Pop-Tarts Bowl = 53 yards. Those returns are already in the annual total.

During his second interception return at Texas, Parrish fumbled and teammate Colby McCalister recovered. It was not a lost fumble. The original play-by-play, PDF p. 15 documents the event; no unsupported career total for fumbles committed is inferred from it.

These three actual appearances are a subset of his college career: reserve appearances in the Big 12 Championship and Sugar Bowl, followed by a Pop-Tarts Bowl start. The Sugar Bowl remains in the record even though he had no credited defensive counting statistic.

In the Pop-Tarts Bowl, he made six tackles, shared a sack credited for one yard and returned an interception 16 yards. The shared sack is already included in his 0.5 TFL; those categories are not added together. The combined subset has ten tackles and one interception.
