2027 Chasco Fiesta: Pirates, Parrots & a Very Suspicious Golf Handicap
That’s So Florida! Captain Booty plots a parade appearance, a fairway occupation and an all-hands gathering of Ye Krewe of Pewter Pirates.

ARRRRGH, ME HEARTIES! At last, an event planning committee has put something sensible in writing.
The theme for the 2027 Chasco Fiesta is “That’s So Florida!” And right there on the theme sheet, among the Sunshine State’s treasures, sits one glorious word:
PIRATES.
Captain Booty read it three times, adjusted his tricorn and declared the document legally binding.
“They’ve requested our presence!”
“It’s a theme suggestion,” said the Parrot.
“A formal summons.”
“It also says citrus.”
“Then bring an orange. We sail at dawn.”
The Parrot has since confiscated the compass. New Port Richey is accessible by road, and nobody has requested a cannon.
The rendezvous

From April 9–17, 2027, Chasco Fiesta returns to Sims Park and downtown New Port Richey with music, parades, cultural programming, vendors and family activities. The Florida theme leaves plenty of room for tropical shirts, sunset colors, citrus, coastal life and enough pirate swagger to make a flamingo reconsider its wardrobe.
For Ye Krewe of Pewter Pirates, this is a must-attend celebration. Every Krewe member belongs in this gathering, so circle the dates, rally your mateys and plan to help us make a memorable showing.
“Attendance will be taken,” announced the Captain.
“You lost the attendance sheet,” said the Parrot.
“I’m using a treasure map.”
“That explains why half the Krewe is marked with an X.”

April 10 — The Captain takes to the streets
Word along the waterfront is that Captain Booty is expected to make an appearance in the Chasco Fiesta Street Parade on Saturday, April 10, 2027, and preparations for his dignified public arrival are already underway.
Unfortunately, his dignified parade wave looks remarkably like a man signaling that his cooler has drifted out to sea.
The Parrot has appointed himself Parade Operations Director. His responsibilities apparently include sitting on the Captain’s shoulder, shouting “KEEP MOVING!” and assuring the crowd that any resemblance to organized behavior is entirely temporary.
Krewe members, come wearing your colors and ready to cheer. Bring the family, enjoy the parade and help welcome everyone turning out to celebrate our community. If you spot our swashbuckling pair, give them a proper pirate greeting.

April 15 — A pirate occupation of the fairway
The adventure continues Thursday, April 15, when the Chasco Fiesta Golf Tournament heads to Seven Springs Golf & Country Club and our Captain plans to occupy a hole.
He has already begun referring to his proposed position as “a strategic outpost with excellent visibility and suspiciously short grass.”
The exact hole and appearance arrangements are still to come. Meanwhile, the Parrot is conducting an emergency golf lesson.
“A birdie is a good score,” explained the Parrot.
“Then ye’re finally qualified to give advice.”
“An eagle is even better.”
“Keep that Philadelphia talk off me fairway.”
The Captain has also mistaken a sand trap for a convenient place to bury valuables, a water hazard for potential docking space and a mulligan for a gentleman who might know where the refreshments are.
He insists he can shoot under par.
The Parrot insists he first learn to count past “one, two, treasure.”
Our own W.P. Rader, aka Professor Jam, is serving as a chairperson of the golf tournament, giving the Krewe another personal reason to support the day. Golfers, start rounding up your playing partners. Potential sponsors and volunteers, keep this one on your calendar, too.

A tradition worth showing up for
A little mischief for a community worth celebrating
Beneath the tricorn and the theatrical plans to commandeer a putting green, this invitation has a serious heart.
Chasco Fiesta’s roots go back to 1922, and its nonprofit mission supports cultural education and the performing arts. Native American cultural programming, live performances and community traditions are central to the celebration.
That gives our Krewe something meaningful to stand behind. Come spend time with neighbors, welcome visitors and support the volunteers, performers and community partners who make the festival happen.
Even the Parrot approves.
“Finally,” he said, “something worth squawking about.”

The Captain is plotting his entrance. The Parrot is reviewing the plan. Neither has agreed who is in charge.
When a festival puts “Pirates” on its inspiration sheet, we simply have to give the flamingos some competition.
Raise the colors. Bring the Krewe. We’ll see ye at Chasco!
